sexual drive and atenolol

I am 39 and have been taking atenolol for 3 years. Since then my sexual drive and nocturnal erections have declined. Is there a causation going on or is this just simply aging?

Re: sexual drive and atenolol

Causation most definitely.

The beta blockers are the limp noodles of the drug world. Dreadful drugs for men between 10 and 80!.

Re: sexual drive and atenolol

My husband is 68 years old and on atenolol plus 15 other pills per day. He also has had his prostrate removed due to cancer. He has not had a problem in that area. So the atenolol may or may not be the problem.

Re: sexual drive and atenolol

Not all men on Beta-Blockers have ED. Anyway, I was not as good as now when I was on Beta-Blockers . They say that ARBs improve sexual ability in men having ED and I have tried both Cozaar and Atacand and in fact I found that they are not better than Beta-Blockers but many men said that thier sexual ability improved on ARBs. I started Cardizim SR 90mg, which is a CCB, 2 days ago and today I feel that they are good for sex.

You know everyone is different and you will hear some guys say that CCBs and ARBs cause ED and others say NO they don't and the same for beta-blockers. For me I found that Cardizim SR is the best . Hope that you will find your righ Med soon
Thanks,
Michael
