Re: Welbutrin - feeling irritable
Abilify is fabulous! I stopped taking it because it's way too expensive - about $300/month w/out insurance. However, I am now doing great with Wellbutrin. After waiting about 4 months! Anyway, Abilify works right away, and my doc also said it can be taken "as needed" so you don't need to take it every day. I would recommend anyone suggesting it to his/her doc as an option if other meds aren't working or side effects are undesirable.

Re: Welbutrin - feeling irritable
JAckie,
Hey, been looking for you too ! tried looking for your last post, I don't know if I'm using the search right, but it didn't look like you were on for awhile. I saw Roz posted a NEW thread about the WB and want to answer her, she answered a post of mine a few days ago and I never got back to her. Do you think the wellbutrin is making you angrier? I wasn't quite sure if that's what you were saying. Like I tried to explain, it's not just that I'm angry, I mean that happens,[ with the hubs, ya know? ] I don't know that I am angry MORE OFTEN, it just seems I am ANGRIER, and I say things when I am angry that are mean, and act nasty too. I used to be a fair fighter person,ya know, not just blurt out hurtful things that I know will make Joe feel bad--and that really have nothing to do with the matter at hand. Then I feel feel bad and depressed because I hurt him.. Same old, it's so hard to tell, what's what , I was so whacky at Christmas, then got a period a day or two later, so I'm sure THAT factored in somehow too. I think I am going off the wellbutrin though. so far have been-every-other-daying-it. Go to the new thread and let me know if you are going to stop or start, or how the sex life is coming. ( no pun intended ) I got so busy, and I missed typing to you!

Re: Welbutrin - feeling irritable
Hey Kinsey!
I was feeling lonely because I had lost you and Campingirl! I was on the Wellbutrin ride all by myself for a while. I DO think I feel more irritable on the WB than the Lexapro. But to say more than on nothing, I really don't think so. Before I got on anything, I was irritated just listening to DH breathe! I could get pretty mad and nasty too (which I think alot has to do with being menopausal and wacko hormones).
But.... it does sound like WB is making you have angry episodes and you really should get off of it. I think I had told you that DH had been on it some years ago and he got so mean and nasty at the drop of a hat that I made him get off of it. He actually scared me.
As far as the sex dept (almost non-existent) well, when I do get it, it feels great, just wish there was something to help him with the libedo. Now, our new drug insurance that will become effective January 1 will NOT cover Levitra, only Viagra) I was trying to stockpile the stuff to last us the next year, but I had just gotten it refilled Dec 7, so they wouldn't cover it again. DANG IT - don't they know NOT to mess with a menopausal woman's sex life???? HAHA
Good to see you back, and I wonder if there is anything else beside WB that could help with the old sex drive? I am trying Maca again. I was on the Damania and thought it was makingt me feel ill, but now I know that wasn't what it was - so I may try both!
Roz, have you heard from your doc as to what to try during the meantime?

Re: Welbutrin - feeling irritable
Jackie,
Hey again, good to hear back! I got some Damania. It was very hard to find by itself, and I didn't want to take it in a mix with one of those --you know-power sex herbal remedies that have hard bodied people on the label and eveything but the kitchen sink in the pill. I am leary of mixing many herbs with all the meds I am on.
Anyway, I could definitily feel the increase in libido [ or rather my previously numb parts finally flowing ] after just one pill. The hub and I have been having some other problems, and we did have a disaster last time he tried specifically to get me to climax. [ uhm... that was one of the things where the mean part came in ] So we are actually kind of awkward about trying again. We are still having sex,and it still feels good, but as far as the BIG "O", it hasn't happened yet. I do know I'm physically capable of little "o"'s though. I am confident it will come with time, we have to straighten out my moods and our marrriage issues first. It's not like he feels like having sex after I have ripped him a new ***hole over some stupid insignificant little thing. ( I honestly feel like kicking my OWN butt sometimes!) I think as I lower the AD's, (there are even creams that help-that you put RIGHT ON, RIGHT before ) and use the Damainia it will all come. ( again no pun intennded) I found the Damainia tea online, but it costs more to ship it than the darn tea costs! Oh, and also
there is actually a Mexican Liqueur[sp? you know what I mean though, right?] made from the plant! I found it online, you can have it shipped, but depending what state, it could cost a fortune. Pennsylvania is so behind in our liquor laws. We can't even get beer or wine anywhere but a State ( liquor) store. Isn't that ridiculous? If I wanted, say just a six pack of beer, [ BEER DISRIBUTORS can sell ONLY BEER, and ONLY BY THE CASE ] I would have to go into a BAR to purchase it! So obviously the Damainian liqueur was out of the question with taxes and shipping. And it had to be shipped to our state [liquor ] store, not to our house. You should look into it though, I think it ships from California or somewhere in the US, maybe a liquor store in your area could order it for you. It would be neat to try if it wasn't like the 80 or 90 dollars it would cost us! It just came up when I searched damania.
( Although I know I had the spelling right, and I don't think I'm spelling it right now. )
Anyway, got too long here, type back if you can!
-Kinsey
PS Oh, and ARE you oing off the WB? I don't remember now if you answered and can't pull it back up. if so how?

Re: Welbutrin - feeling irritable
Hey Kinsey,
I am not getting off the WB any time soon. I may try this spring or summer, but I'm still too darn irritable and emotional these days to try. I am taking Fish/Flax oil which the Fish Oil helps with anxiety and depression. I am hoping that by the summer, I can slowly wean off the WB and try just taking Fish Oil. I had heard alot of good about it in the use of these two areas. Have you tried it? There are many testimonials on these boards about its use.
Sorry you're having trouble in the sex arena too. Why is it that the one thing that can be so pleasureable can cause you so much emotional pain? It sucks! I haven't seen anything about the Damania liquer you were talking about, but I have to go find my capsules again and start taking them with the Maca. I can testify that the Maca also helps with the hot flashes too!
Jackie
