he only bp meds my mom takes are verapamil 120mg and clonidine .001 and a thyroid pill. Will pravigard raise her liver enzyme or cause the same side effects as lipitor?
Honestly lane, I never heard of pravigard, so have absolutely no comment on it. Good thing she has your aunt to help, as I know some folks on here have split their pills also. My old dr. knew I was having problems with statins, so he told me to just try and take them 3 times a week if I could. Unfortuneately even that didn't help the side effects, so he took me off. Since he retired, these new drs. drive me up a wall with their numbers game.

What exactly did the blood report say, .05 to 1.2 or 12?

Hopefully someone on here knows about this pravigard and can help U, as like I said, it is new to me. Good luck, and best wishes.....

It looks like Pravigard is just a combination of Pravachol and aspirin. What will they think of next?

Yeah, I just looked it up, that is what it looks like to me. This is what I found on it:

What is Pravigard Pac?
• Aspirin is in a class of drugs called salicylates. It works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain and inflammation. Aspirin also reduces the formation of blood clots.
Pravastatin reduces total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL or "bad) cholesterol, and triglycerides in the blood.
• Together, aspirin and pravastatin are used to slow the progression of atherosclerosis (fatty deposits in the arteries) and to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and transient ischemic attack (TIA or "mini-stroke").
• Pravigard Pac may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

I'm surprised if her mom had raised liver enzymes, why they would shove another statin on her. Maybe she would be better off with a non statin drug. Oh well, what do I know......

Well, hopefully she will do all right, especially if she breaks it in half. I believe that milligram per milligram, Lipitor is four times as strong as Pravachol. So, if she breaks the pill in half, she will only be taking 20mg Pravachol, which would be equivalent to just 5mg Lipitor.

That is true, just have to keep an eye on things to make sure the new stuff doesn't act like the Lipitor. I know that Crestor is just about the strongest one out there, and it seems many folks had problems with that. Oh well, like anything, time will tell.
