I can't remember who posted about Zetia, but I read, or heard some nasty stuff about it, and I also think there was an article posted about it maybe being taken off the market.

Naw....

Zetia has only just begun. It's advertized almost daily here on National media anymore.
Why would it be taken off the market?

Vytorin is my beloved. I can have my cake and eat it too !

I have heard no such news.

Zetia has been around about 4 years, as was Baycol. Just because something is advertised, doesn't mean it is a WONDER drug. Look at Vioxx and a few more of those lovely meds.

For those that can take some of these meds., God bless them, but for many the risks far outweigh the so called benifits. Each person is different, so what is good for some folks, is not necessarily good for others. I know folks who take Zetia and many other meds. with no problems, then there are those that just can't handle them. It should be discussed with your dr. if U are having nasty side effects and the dr. should treat each individual differently, not assume because some can take it, others can as well. JMHO

Re: Chest muscles also ache with statin use, normal?

I started bodybuilding <lite> at 16 and have continued off an on my whole life. I have a wrecked back from a poorly done deadlift and two ruined knees, one from gym class in high school and the other from skiing, along with a mangled shoulder (ripped from it's socket skiing 30 years ago.) All of these cause me cyclic pain, sometimes intense, and require care (like benchpressing and the shoulders.)

I've had these pains before and during 7 years of Liipitor use. But in all honesty, I'd have to decribe the aches and pains as very similar, with or without the statin.
I am not as strong at 60 as I was at 30 and I am more prone to injury; I doubt that I could take a bouncing fall down a couple hundred yards of ski-slope at 40 miles an hour anymore and dust off and laugh. Now I would risk life threatening injuries.

As we age, the body breaks down and eventually stops altogether in addition to suffering from the old injuries that the body doesn't easily forget. It is hard to easily assign cause and effect if one ignores this overriding consideration. After all, moving a sofa can cause aches in underused muscles; whether or not one has taken this or that drug may have very little to do with it.

JJ,

Just because someone has a problem of side affects with a drug does not mean you boot it off the shelves. Problems have to be significant in nature affecting hosts of people. ALL drugs have their problems, every one of them but they can be wonderful.
Imagine, if we had none at all?
Years ago people would flock to them if they could get them for ailments. Imagine a doc about 150 years ago walking to a home with some of these...Penecillins, pain killers, BP meds, Antidepressants..etc..in his small bag. He would be viewed as a Dr. Leanard McCoy ! (Startrek)

Lenin,

You are correct. As we age our bodies begin to show the mistakes of our past. We begin to ache...we feel all sorts of things. In a sense we die slowly. So the idea is to make ourselves feel the best as long as we can and what we are feeling may be just that..Age, not drugs.

Personally, I feel I have a new body coming anyway when I die, so to me, I kind of look forward to it, but yet I won't push the issue either
