twitching

For at least a year now, I've been getting these twitches at different places on my body. Sometimes it'll be my eye or eyelid, sometimes it'll be a random place on my side or leg or arm. Right now the side of my foot is twitching - on the inside of the right leg above the heel and under the bally bone. It feels like someone's flicking that sensitive area on the back of my foot. It stings like when you hit the "funny bone" in your elbow. You know how if you touch one area of your body, you can sort of feel it someplace else. Well I feel the twitching in my big toe and up my leg. Right now it's really bothering me and no matter how much I move my foot around it's not going away. It's been at least 10 minutes. Usually when I get a twitch, it goes away after a minute and I'll notice it in a completely different location later on. Just to explain a little more, sometimes a finger will move on its own and I can't control it. If I feel it somewhere like on my arm, I can look at it, and see one little area moving up and down at random intervals. I can see the little area on the side of my ankle moving up and down right now. It's like looing at/feeling a pulse, but random. I've never thought of this as a serious problem, but right now it's really annoying me and whatever is causing it, can't be good. Any insight?

Re: twitching

Try eating some bananas or taking potassium and calcium see if it helps diminish it. Tonic water which has quinine is also purported to help but if you tend to get acne then you will want to stay away from that.

Muscle fatigue and too much caffine can be causes.

Re: twitching

Anxiety can also cause it. Do you notice it more during stressful times? Is there any muscle weakness associated with it?

Re: twitching

I don't drink coffee or anything caffeinated and my muscles are otherwise fine. I'm not terribly stressed out, not more than usual. I don't really let myself get stressed out or have anxiety attacks or anything like that. It doesn't seem to be connected to anything else. I've been sick this week, so I took some vitamin C this morning. No bananas in the house, but I'll definitely get some. I don't think it'll help though. I eat bananas every once in a while and I've never noticed an effect. I don't understand it. It's three hours later and my ankle is still twitching. It's really annoying. I just hope it's nothing serious. Thanks for your help. Any other ideas?

Re: twitching

No sweetie I don't. Look up twitching in a search and you will get more information but don't go right to deadly diseases and freak yourself out.

I used to get it all the time in my teens and twenties and it drove me mad. It just seemed to go away on it's own.
