Re: do diabetes meds make it harder to lose weight?

I take amaryl, advantia and lantus.
I understand advantia causes weight gain and so does the lantus.
I'm looking into gastric by-pass surgery now.

Re: do diabetes meds make it harder to lose weight?

Hello :

I found out about 4 months ago that I now have diabetes type 2 and I am now taking metformin and lisinopril and I have lost about 40 lbs. just laying in bed 20+ hours Every day because of severe Back Pain when I stand , sit or walk .

But I went on a forced diets of eating a low carb Salad at least 2 times a day before I try to eat anything else.

I only eat very lean steaks , Chicken Breast or Fish after the Salad .

I also cut OUT ALL Breads , Rice , Pasta , Etc. and NO more Sugar ,, because I now use Splenda for Sugar ,, Also no more Sodas ,,

Now I drink water or Cold Tea with Splenda - and Ceral with Splenda .

I was 400+ lbs, Now I'm 365 and I want to lose another 150 Lbs, if I can , because I do NOT want Gastric By-Pass Surgery .

I just had an MRI on my back 2 days ago and I'm waiting for the Results to see what can be done about my back pain .

I have tried Vicodin and also Methadone and epideral Injections and nothing worked so far .

Now I also have Leg and Feet Pain most of the time but especially at night.

Maybe I'll get Lucky and find some good Info here about what might ease my leg and feet pain at night .

PS: I do cheat a little by eating small amounts of Chocolate a few times a week . Or I just drink extra Tea with Splenda to curb the desire for Sweets .

I hope this Info will help someone trying to lose weight like I am trying to do .

Davis, doyou thinkthat the lisinopril could be the cause of you back and leg pain? My mom (diabetic) was on lisinopril for over five yrs and complained costantly about leg and back pain. Once she was off lisinopril the pains went away..

Just a though.

Avandaryl causes "sudden, rapid, and significant" weight gain in the gut.

Research it online. There is much info on avandaryl and gaining weight.
