Expiration Dates For Drugs

One sees universal advice to discard prescription drugs past their
expiration dates. Some drugs are expensive enough that one hesitates
to follow this sage advice without further information. We know, for
example, that careful storage reportedly practiced by the US Army
has shown that a drug with an expriation date of two or three years
may still be at rated potency for up to ten years.

I have tried, in vain, to find research data on Combivent inhalers.
Does anyone know whether there is data on potency vs. storage
times under ideal storage conditions [dry, cool]?

If not, where would one prod to obtain such data? Drug manufacturers
do not seem to invite such enquiries [grin].

Surely there must be some curiosity out there on this topic?

Re: Expiration Dates For Drugs

have you spoken with an actual pharmacist about this or possibly contact any sort of actual teaching hospital that has a pharmacolgy program?i really cannot thin of any other actual source, other than the drug co,but who knows what the truth actually is and what you will be actully told,ya know/Sorry I can't really think of any other options for you.i would think though that something like an inhaler would probably be a bit more likely to actually break down much more quickly than any sort of a solid type of pill or capsule, you know?It would just seem more fragile to me anyways.Good luck on your search for answers.FB
