Re: Considering Concerta but worried...

Usually you should notice something in a couple of days. But it can take up to a few weeks to work fully.

As for sideaffects, it can be right away, but sometimes it can take a couple of days. But after a couple of weeks and you still don't feel sideaffects, you should consider yourself lucky because you prabably won't recieve any.

Good luck!

Re: Considering Concerta but worried...

Methylphenidate efficacy was immediate for me. Try a couple of tests. List a few things that you found very difficult and check your performance about 2 hours after taking your Concerta. Many Concerta users have reported "it is very slow out of the gate." That is why to wait at least 2 hours before testing. My guess is that you'll see a noticeable improvement. If not, the dose may still be too low. Or, another disorder or comorbid disorder is at work. Or, conceding that we all respond differently, stimulants may indeed take a few weeks for some folks.

Re: Considering Concerta but worried...

This is for SGH, My son is 16 and was on ritalin when he was little until he started getting Tics. He hasn't taken anything for his ADD because of the tics but now he is starting to have problems in school and he lives with his dad that doesn't believe in taking meds. But I fear that he will drop out of school when all he might need is to go on meds. My question is does concerta effect your tics at all? my son also has OCD. I really wish to help my son. His father told me today that he could come live with me and if that happens I want to have him try the meds again. Is concerta a good meds for a person with every little attention span?
