Re: Vision and CCBs are related?

I've never heard of this effect. I've taken variants of diltiazem for several years. My eyes are 25/20 (the 99th percentile for my age) and don't seem to be worse. I use reading glasses, but could get by without them.

Re: Vision and CCBs are related?

I'm not sure that it's the Cardiazim or it's really my vision so I have to wait for 1 week or so and see what would happen. Today I started an ACE and I feel breathless, my mother told me that she felt the same thing when she first started this med and after 1 week she felt normal again. The ACE Med we are using is Aceon 4 mg
Thanks,
Michael

Re: Vision and CCBs are related?

I'm pretty sure is was the amlodipine for me. There was no effect on my distance vision but for anything close it felt as if the small mucles necessary for focusing had gotten lazy. From the way as that calcium channel blockers work, I know it's not an impossibility.

Anyway, it returned to "normal" within 2 days of discontinuing the CCB. I can still read without glasses and my lifelong near-sightedness has slowly gotten to the point where I don't need glasses at all. But the reading-glasses won't be TOO many years away... I used to be able to count hair on the back of a mosquito a few decades ago...no more !

In truth though, I took the Norvasc with atenolol...it MIGHT have been from the latter although propranolol or nadolol never caused anything like that!

I will post here if my vision got better so you can call the doctor and ask him to change the med for your mother. Good luck

Re: Vision and CCBs are related?

This is the third day off Cardiazim and I still have the same blurred vision so I guess it's the Depression which causes blurred vision. I will continue with my ACE for more 3 days then go back to Cardiazim.
Thanks,
Michael
