Re: Klonopin addiction

Hi All,
I have started my detox since 4:00PM yesterday. My doctor gave me Clonidine to take for hight blood presr while Im going through w/d.

Is Clonidine the same as Klonopin?

I already have a runny nose, the runs, feel like Ive been run over by a 18 wheeler, my back is killing me. I keep thinking If I could just have some vicodin!

hi Sara, no, not at all. Klonopin is a benzodiazepine. Clonidine is not; it is a high blood pressure medication that has a secondary benefit factor that also effectively helps with opiate WDs. When you stop taking the clonidine you will likely need to taper end as abruptly stopping can spike your blood pressure; risks are probably greater to someone who already has high blood pressure. I am sure your doctor will guide you out of it. At what level is he prescribing the clonidine for you?

jam,

I'm on a low level dose of Tegretol (which is an antiseizure medication) so that makes me feel safe. I take it because it helps with my migraines...go figure.

Thanks for the info.

Re: Klonopin addiction

I've just started on Topamax, apparently better for migrances and weight loss. I'm on full dose and it's really helping so far (4 weeks in.)
