Smile Re: depression and anger?

Hi: Anger is a main cause of depression. It helped me to sit down & write the things I was angry about then think about what to do to resolve it so I wouldn't be angry. Also, recognize that there are things you do have a right to be angry about. To help myself, because sometimes the other person(s) just don't want resolution, I forgave everybody including myself and resolve to be better. Somebody told me not to focus on the people doing or who did the wrong because you can become more like them. Focus on a good role model you admire. I think it works pretty good. I had mommie dearest & daddy dearest for parents. My role models were fakes, Harriet & Ozzie Nelson, Father Knows Best. Fake sitcoms but even as a little child I knew that those were what people ought to be like. So instead of continuing the problems and harboring anger that would only make me react wrongly, I married a good man, yes sometime irritating, and 3 kids that got the benefit of mom's graciousness instead of meaness. Hope this helps although it is not the easiest thing to do.

Re: depression and anger?

Anger is a common symptom of depression. Psychotherapy and antidepresent medication are generally effective for the treatment of depression. However, anger is not a medical/psychiatric condition, therefore, it is not responsive to medication.
I strongly urge you to seek out the services of a certified anger management provider for an assessment of your anger. Generally, the assessment will determine your level of functioning in manageing anger, stress, styles of communication and emotional intelligence.
Anger management classes teach skills in these four areas and a post test can be taken to determine your success in the anger mangement class.

Re: depression and anger?

hi
I have a problem of depresion turned into anger too, Im on meds( welbutrin 150 xl,xanax 0.5 on afternoons and restoril at night, but Imtaking the restoril whem I wake up because I cant control myself and I wake up angry always like I " i cant fit into my skin" if you know the feeling and theres no one to talk about it, my husband wants me to be a happy, non-complaning wife and since he knows that im taking meds he is always right in any argument because Im "the one with issues". I have kids and this is affecting us all, my doctor wont pay much attention to it when I tell him, last visit I told him what I was doing and he didnt say a thing.
what can I do, should I try something over the counter, can anything like that help a little bit?
please help, I feel so alone in this!
