Exclamation does this Side Effect improve with time?

My son was taking 5 mg Methylphenidate (generic) twice a day. Works reasonably well at school, bad after effects at home. We just got the overlap timed right. Tried Concerta 18 mg last Sat.--horribly fixated on one "project" wouldn't really communicate, left grandparents' early (would normally NEVER request this) remained fixated at home with frustration fits, then became tearful saying he "missed Grandma so much". I didn't give him another dose since. I called the Dr's office-who are usually very good about getting back to me- haven't heard from them. Will call again tomorrow. Will the "zombieness" improve if he continues to get Concerta, or is it just the wrong med for him?

Re: does this Side Effect improve with time?

Honestly, it could go either way. It might improve with time and it might not. Wish I could give you a clearer answer!

Re: does this Side Effect improve with time?

My son was the same way when he first went on Concerta 2 years ago. I can't remember how long it took for it to go away. He was also switched from the generic Ritilan, which made him very emotional, so I was very leery of the Concerta.
Good Luck
Jenn
