Can eating temporarily alleviate GERD?

Ok.. I've posted my symptoms on the Digestive Problems forum.. if need be I can expand... but I have reflux and potentially GERD. However, after eating the pain seems to go away for a little while. Especially with fatty foods, though after eating fatty foods, I tend to belch MUCH more... the symptoms really seem worse like 3 or so hours AFTER a meal... is this typical? Also, can movement cause GERD pain to intensify or spread to other areas in the chest? I know bad posture seems to make it worse, but sometimes I'll move and its sore or move abruptly and get a shooting pain... another thing.. food seems to stay in my stomach a LONG time. I can belch like 5 hours after eating and still taste what I ate (sorry, gross). I don't know if this is a symptom or maybe a cause? Any ideas would be much appreciated. I'm more worried about the pain though with movement and moving to other areas around the chest.

Re: Can eating temporarily alleviate GERD?

I usually have pain about an hour after I eat. I also have pain in my chest.
You need to go to your Dr. & tell them your symptoms & be able to rule out any cardiac problems . I had a whole cardiac workup done & it was fine. It ended up being esophageal spasms that gave me pain in my chest . I started on Isosorbide & that has helped the most with the sharp chest pains.
