Re: Persistent Ovarian Cysts

The doctor has not tried birth control in relation to the cysts though I've taken it before for birth control purposes. About two years ago I got the Depo shot one time and it was horrible, I almost had my period continuously for 3 months while on it and gained weight, so I never got it again. After that I tried the patch and that made me pretty much instantly sick, so I tried Levlite (low dose combination pill) and that made me really nauseous and intensified PMS physical symptoms I was already having. After that I tried Ortho Micronor which is just progesterone and it gave me horrible mood swings - but no major physical side effects. If I took it for the cyts, do you know what kind I would need to take? The combination pills seem to be hard for me to handle but when the alternative is surgery, I would try them again.

I'm suppose to hear back today what the results of the ultrasound were. Have any of you had other symptoms related to cysts other than pain?

Thank you for your replies!

Re: Persistent Ovarian Cysts

I finally heard back about my ultrasound over a week later - somehow my results got lost between the imaging place and my doctor's office. The right cyst is still there and has not changed. BUT, on Sunday night out of nowhere, I got my period which was really odd because I usually have it at the beginning of the month, not the middle. What they usually do is what you mentioned, birth control pills - but since I've had a hard time with them in the past my doctor is talking to some of the other doctors at the office to see if they can come up with an alternative. Surgery was not mentioned yet but is still a possibility. They still have no idea what is causing this so I have a feeling that it will get blamed on stress again - is that really a valid answer or just another way of saying we don't know? I can't figure out what to do to reduce stress, I'm already doing a lot! I am debating about finding a new job for next year. Is it possible to have PCOS with no measurable hormonal imbalances? Let me know if you can think of any other problems that might cause cysts. Thanks for your help.

Re: Persistent Ovarian Cysts

Some of my symptoms with ovarian cysts were:
Pain
Abdominal swelling
constpation (diahreah during my period, this due to Endo)
severe ovulation pain
bleeding in between periods
I was on several BC Pills. The 1st one was Orthi-tri-cyclen, for the first 4 years I was on it it helped, but then it stopped working. I was then changed to Ovcon 35, that did not work, then I was changed to Low-Overal that also did not work then Low-Ogesteral, also did not work, then Cyclessa again it did not work.
Unfortunatly they couldnt find a pill that would work for me anymore. My cysts and my pain were getting worse.
