Side Effects

My blood pressure runs between 118-134/82-84. My doctor wants we to take 20mg Quinapril a day. What are the usual side effects of this medication? I did not think my blood pressure was that bad, are there any good natural products I could try instead?

Re: Side Effects

Garlic and onions help with bp problems. So does celery, sweet potatoes or bananas. I have read that dark chocolate also helps lower bp, Hershey makes a dark chocolate that tastes ok.

I don't know the side effects of your bp med, but if you do a search Im sure you can fsomething.

Re: Side Effects

I did a search and it stated that quanapril is and ace inhibitor. It is like accupril. one of the side effects are coughing, I don't know much about the med, but the search said it had hydrochlorine in it.

Maybe somebody will respond that knows more about this med.

Re: Side Effects

Just curious if this is your only medical issue? Seems to me...and Iam not expert..That the averages you stated of what your Bp usually runs is not bad enough to warrent a med for. I guess I was under the impression that if your averages are better than 140/90 than you can try diet and excersise changes first. Just another example maybe of how drs differ. Some have you going on meds while others don't

Re: Side Effects

Mee too.

I wouldn't medicate numbers like that (and COUGH) unless there was some reason, like proven heart disease or stroke or two parents with either of them.

Best natural things to do is lower your salt intake, your body weight, and your alcohol consumption.
