Harry, My doctor won't prescribe me an antifungal!!

but she will write me a prescription for zelnorm, nexium, or etcc.. I asked her for an antifugal drug because I feel that I have an overgrowth of bacteria in my intestines. She asked me why do I feel that it's an overgrowth and I explained my symptoms and she said well we don't prescribe antifungal drugs.

Anyway, she gave me a prescription for nexium and had ordered 4 different stool test(Para sensitivite, Para(other stuff, I can remember), which I haven't got the results back yet, and it's been over a week.

BTW..my symptoms are grumbling intestines, gas, and more grumbling intestines.

Why can't I have an antifungal drug?

Re: Harry, My doctor won't prescribe me an antifungal!!

MzTami,
Sorry I am so late resonding!!

Sorry-- but there are alot of Medical Doctors that don't believe in yeast/ candida infections that happen in the Gastro system..
You can have it in your mouth --it's called thrush, also vagina, and nails -- both fingers and toes but there is no test for yeast overgrowth in your intestines.
But, I get it every time I take an antibiotic for 5 to 7 days depending on the type antibiotic-.

People that have HIV/Aids that get pnuemonia and are treated with alot of antibiotics-- are given Diflucan and or Sporanox an antifugal drug-- in large doses. But for some reason -- some Doctors just don't believe fungus type infections exist??

There several OTC remedies you can try-- Caprylic acid, or Capralin, garlic (Garlinase) is good, Wild oregano oil, Olive leaf extract, Kolorex and Pau'd arco tea. You can buy at health food stores or online.

There is a very good yogurt recently put on the market by Dannon-- named Activia. I have been using it about 2 weeks and it really helps the intestine work better. I still like Stonyfield Farm yogurt.

Probiotic supplements that are very good are Culturelle, Reuteri and PB-8.
I also buy these online.

I wish you well---Harry

Re: Harry, My doctor won't prescribe me an antifungal!!

Thanks Harry for responding, I was wondering why she wouldn't prescribe me an antifungal.

Also, I have been eating the Activia...off and on. I need to eat it more regularly.

Again, Thanks for responding.
