Question about benzamycin

Hello all! My MD just put me on Benzamycin gel for my acne, but unfortunately she didn't give me a chance to ask any questions about it, so i thought I'd ask here instead:

1) How long does the medicine have to be on to be effective? ie: if I rub the gel in, then wash my face an hour or so later, has the medicine already done it's thing by then, or would I just be sabotaging myself?

2) I'm starting to notice some dry skin - any recommendations on a mosturizer for sensitive skin? How long before/after the treatment should I put it on?

3) No matter how much or how little gel I use, or how thoroughly I rub it in, there are always visible flakes of dried gel on my face after about 5 minutes. Any ideas on how to stop that? I hate walking into work, going into the bathroom, and seeing my face looking like I just ate something covered in powdered sugar - very unprofessional.

I never had bad acne, so it took so little time! I used this when I was younger and it worked great. About the flakes, yeah, nothing you can do about it. I tried to get rid of them too, but nothing worked. I just used it at night, so I never had to worry about flakes in the morning. It is really drying, but it's good.

You need to rub it in and leave it on.

...and as for mosturizer, you should use Cetaphil. I'd give the Benzamycin a few minutes to sink in and then put on the mosturizer.
