I had mono before and you didn't mention rather or not you have had a fever if so watch out. When I was diagnosed with it I had 105 fever and could not eat or sleep. And lost about 25 pounds trying to fight it and had to hospitalized. I really hope you don't have it!!

I have mono, no fever and didn't need to be hospitalized. However, every one has many different symptoms from mono - from mild to severe.

Christine.

My husband had mono when he was 15 years old. Does that mean that he is a carrier and now I could be too?

He told me that when he had it, his throat hurt real bad and he could only have liquids and no solid foods. He also had a high fever and was out of school for a week about.

Re: Mono symptoms?

Here's my lil timeline in case it helps someone!!

I'm almost 23, never been diagnosed with mono (that I can recall) and am allergic to augmentin and penicillin. Think I had strep in 3rd grade (?) and last year around mid February, ended up in ER, was Rx'ed Zpac which didn't cure the problem, but can't recall the 2nd meds that cleared it up.

This year, 3/13 - afternoon: Doc's apt. - tested pos. for strep. Saw white patches just behind molars... back of throat was ok/no red or white bumps. She perscribed Ceptin and after the Rx ran out I felt ok.

Approx 4/3 - still having nasal discharge from previous "illness" and now excess/crusty sleepy eye in the morning (as if I'd cried myself to sleep, but I didn't) and funny lil clear mucus strands periodically floating over eye (I'm a photographer/graphic designer so quite scared about now!). Talked to a model I work with and she said she'd had same symptoms--swollen lymph nodes and "funny eye stuff" over eyes occasionally. She said it goes away so I put a lil faith in that and carried on about life. That was 4/8. The "funny eye stuff" DID go away, within that week actually.

4/27 - 11pm - developed sore throat and small swollen lymph nodes in neck, felt like I was running a small fever, too.

4/28 - Awoke around 11am with a VERY sore throat and lymph nodes resembling that of a hamster when storing food! Saw white patches on area just behind molars (no white/red spots on throat/roof of mouth). Saw doc at 2pm, got Rx for Ceptin again, but had tested negative for strep!!?!!?! She told me to call her by Tues. if no improvement. Had Rx filled/took 1st pill @ 7pm. Was incredibly lethargic today.

4/29 - A.M. - still sore throat and a little bit lethargic.
3pm - throat was better, noticed what was to later become a full body rash, took 2nd Ceptin pill. Showered and applied anti-inflammatory to legs (only place rash seemed to be at time)
8pm - Rash had spread north through ribs area (sides and lower back were itchiest). Double checked throat... I saw the white patches still but now accompanied by red spots on back of throat up to roof of mouth. Oivay!
By midnight rash had spread to neck and forearms. Took 3rd (and final... till doc visit) Ceptin pill at 11pm.

4/30 - 3am - started internet search and felt dry throat coming on.

I didn't have a rash reaction to Ceptin the first time so I'm wondering if the first round was gneric because I don't think it was and THIS time it is?!?! I'll try to remember to ammend this later with progress, hopefully this helps someone out there like all of your other posts have helped me :-) It's sounding like I probably have mono.... not looking forward to the upcoming days :-(.
