Re: Chronic Bad Breath

Tonsil stones stink like death. they are really small and it is amazing how much smell they put out!
Also, these stones can lodge in back of throat without tonsils. I don't think you can do anything about that. Gargling maybe with listerine. Listerine is well know for preventing plaque, believe it or not. My dentist admitted that!

Things that can cause bad breath:
1. a hiatal hernia which traps food can cause a bad odor
2. About a year ago I noticed if I chewed food or gum on right side of my mouth i had a taste in my mouth like a sewer. I went to the dentist and he fixed a broken old cavity but did not do an xray (go figure) since I was not in pain.
then I went back 4 months later because my mouth was so sensitive to cold on that side.
THAT is when he discovered a small cavity. he fixed it and I have solved my problem. Think of how long I suffered with that bad taste in my mouth!

3. Check all your gums and teeth. make sure there are no abcesses, cavities undiagnosed. also get a root canal or crown done if necessary.
4. if it is post nasal drip, that will cause a bad odor. Suck on mints and chew gum all the time/ But fix the drip.
Go to an allergist and get tested and start shots. You are probably allergic to mold which can be year round depending where you live.
good luck! and it is true you are not the only one.
until you find out, keep mints with you and chew minty gum. Its better that nothing!
let us know what happens. but a lot of bad breath is due to gums and teeth.

Re: Chronic Bad Breath

hi tinker, i cant remember the medicine, its prescribe by my ENT doc and i finish taking it but i think my reflux is back bec i do burp often and when i swallow i get a bitter taste, i do believe its the reflux and i have to check with the doc on it. hmm, yeah i tried therabreath before too, i think its works as a temporary relief but not really to cure the problem, at least u does make the b.b go away for a while

by the way, does ur b.b gets worse especially after u eat? do u also get a white tongue after u eat and after scraping ur tongue? im just finding out any similarities with u.

is the Nexium helping to reduce ur b.b one single bit?

Re: Chronic Bad Breath

Honestly no the Nexium has not helped yet, but i have only been on it for a few days. I am hopiing that once i cure my lpr that it will cure my bb. After i eat my bb gets very bad as well. THe white tongue is only on the back of my tongue and my taste buds are HUGE.

Ginger...When should i ask the doctor if this is a structural problem or just acid reflux occuring. I mean i have only been diagnosed a little less hten a week ago. RIght now the Nexuim doesnt seem to be working but i dont usually get heartburn so i wouldnt even know.

Please use the reply button - most quotes are not necessary

When replying to a post it's not always necessary to reply with a quote.

) If you are the first person to reply to a thread, quoting the post is not needed.
) If you refer to the poster by name, quoting the post is not needed.
) If you are clearly responding to the last poster, quoting the post is not needed.
) If it's obvious who you are responding to, quoting the post is not needed.

If there maybe some question as to what post in the thread or what part of a post in a thread you are responding to, using the quote feature is fine. But, in doing that please don't quote an entire long post just to answer one question. Please only quote the part of the post you are responding to.

Using the quote feature when it's not neccessary clogs up threads, can make the pages longer than they need to be and takes up server space.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Re: Chronic Bad Breath

I think I might have that LPR too. Is there actually a way to know if you have that problem? I visited my ENT more than 15 times and he looked into my nose and mouth more than 100 times with a scope, but he never said there was anythin wrong. Yea my nose was a bit inflammed. he never really looked into my throat though.

But Somehow I don't feel like the coating on my tongue is caused by the mucous in the sinuses dripping down (post nasal drip). Could the mucous be comin somwhere from below (stomach or somethin)??
