Scared--help Please

Hello, I am 51 female and have been taking ToprolXL for 6 yrs. Started it for rapid heartbeat and added high bp the last 2 yrs. It has worked just finefor both probs.Unless I am upset. My hands and feet do stay COLD. I went to a diff doc--a reg MD. He wants me to stop the Toprol and take Zestril. I always thought you had to wean off Toprol. I am terrified of switching drugs. I also suffer from an inner ear dysfunction and have to be very careful about anything that causes dizziness. Any advice would be appreciated. I can't afford to see the cardio anymore. Am just very leary--this was my first visit to this new doc and he did not do any tests. I have read good things and awful things about zestril. HELP....Thanks, Belle

Belle,
If I were you I would call my cardiologist and inform him of what your new doctor is suggesting. He can tell you whether or not he agrees with the med change. You shouldn't have to see him to get his advice.

I agree with Mari, you should call the cardio for advice. You are right to be concerned about just stopping toprol xl w/o weaning, it could cause bp to spike severely. My mom took both meds together and seperately. She didn't weant and had problems.

Call the dr. and tell him your concerns. Good luck and keep us posted.
