heart attack

I had a nuclear stress test yesterday, things looked ok, then today while getting ready for work I started getting those familiar chest pains. This is the 2nd time I've suffered a heart attack within a few days of having the stress tests. This time it was for a different reason. The past 2 heart attacks were due to plaque buildup, this one seems to be from a blood clot, an embolism. My cardio Dr. thinks I may have some sort of blood clotting problem. I've tried so hard for the last 5 months and have lost around 40lbs, my cholesterol numbers were good, Total 168, Tri-133, hdl 48, Ldl 93, ratio 3.5. I have no family history, high blood pressure or diabetes. Im eating better then I ever have and now this. I also had a heart cath today. Im quite surprised they let me go home tonight.
I don't really understand what's going on with this HA. Im getting quite stressed.

Re: todays heart attack

Shambbles - Why aren't you at the hospital if you suspect you've had another heart attack? Dear Lord, please take care of yourself. Run, don't walk yourself in and get checked out. I too have some platelet problems (or did). I hate to hear this - hope you get the care you need ASAP.

And.. DO please update!

My best -Brenlee

Re: todays heart attack

Brenlee,
I called 911 and was to the ER immediately. I went into the cath lab at 2pm for a heart cath. It was definately a heart attack and was caused by a emboli. All the symptoms were exactly like my two previous heart attacks which were caused by plaque buildup. I was very surprised they didn't keep me overnight but was happy to sleep in my own bed. Im now on 2 blood thinners Lovenox and Coumadin in addition to Plavix, Lisinopril, asprin, Vytorin, Tricor, Coreg, Lasix, Elavil and Protonix. I will be seeing a Hematologist sometime this week, the hospital drew 9 vials of blood for testing.

Does anyone else have similar issues?

Thanks for any replies.

Re: todays heart attack

Are you experiencing angina (pain) from ischemia (low blood supply to heart due to blockage)? Your medication is proper to help prevent blockage by dilating the vessels and thinning the blood. It is difficult to believe you would be released so quickly after a heart attack. There are consequences that need immediate attention... at least prevent further heart muscle damage. This would require stablization. After all that one is required to have someone provide a ride home.

I had a silent heart attack (no warning with angina) that caused pulmonary edema. I was in ICU for 3 days to adjust the oxygen and carbon dioxide level, evidence medication is at proper dosage, no serious side affects, etc. I believe you may have had serious epoisodes of angina but not a heart attack (MI). You may have received attention in time to prevent a MI.

Re: todays heart attack

My Cardio said the emboli or embolus blocked a smaller vessel but that it was a HA. I had angina all throughout the day however it was rather mild, similar to my 2nd HA. The first HA was more painful. Yesterday I was on a heparin and nito drip all day and only started the Lovenox and Coumadin last night. He did say the heart cath looked good immediately after the surgery but when he came in to see me after that he said he found out what was going on, finding the embolism. This is why im still confused.
