Is this GERD?

Hi lately ive been expirencing some "pinching" feelings under neath my breast bone and some achiness in arms. last night i had bad heartburn and i had nothing here at home to take for it. i have had palpataions for years and had them checked out about 4 years with a ecg and nothing was wrong. BUT i do (smoke) inprocess of quitting and i know i drink WAY too much caffene. i cant remember the last time i drank water. last night with heartburn feeling i was real burpy and i kinda woke up like this too. sorry but when i seem to burp it out the little pinching pains go away. I sleep on my left side and i normally wake up laying on my arm so im wondering if laying on my is what is causing it to be achey most times it only aches from albow down to hand.

Any ideas?

I don't have the symptoms you do but have you seen your doctor yet? You can buy over the counter anti acid and have it home in case you get heartburn again. I hope you find out what you have. Maybe someone else will come along and can give you more information.

i ended up going to the hospital lastnight. must be acid or something they did an ekg and a chest xray and everything was normal.

sounds like my symptoms. had an ECG today. how long do the results take

ask your doctor for a sample of Nexium. Give it 4 weeks and if it helps, then you have GERD.

I too wish to describe certain symptoms and seek advice as to whether it would qualify as GERD or related to GERD in any way:

I have recently begun taking several medications and find that I have an accumulation of "thickened-saliva" at the back of my throat. I think it is too thin to be described as 'mucous' but it is a clearly detectable accumulation of an unpleasant tasting substance that does not appear to be stomach acid since it does not "burn".

The meds are:
insulin
lopressor
warfarin
diltiazer.
