Re: Eye Allergy Pain And Allergy Shots

The antihistimines you took don't work for a lot of people. You need them to prescribe Allegra. It is non-drowsy but works much, much better. Zyrtec works the best, but can make you drowsy, so with your job, I doubt they'll prescribe it. Make it clear that the loratidine and lorastine doesn't work for you. Allegra is the most expensive as far as the military is concerned, so they are sometimes stingy about prescribing it. Be persistant.

My eye allergy does respond to my Zyrtec, but not completely. I still need the eyedrop. The shots have helped too. Mine used to be so bad, a regular doctor thought I had bacterial conjunctivitis.

Which eyedrops have you tried? My doctor prescribed Patanol which I have to get in town and use my co-pay for. But it is worth it. It works the best and never irritates. it is technically not an antihistimine, but a mast cell inhibitor which is the precurser to histimine. So it stops the allergic reaction before it can start.

The ENT said my headaches were caused by the swollen turbinate. The turbinate was the only thing to show up on the sinus CT scan, there was no sinusitis. If you have already had the X-rays, you should request that an ENT look at them.
Man you were right my turbinate are indeed swollen.
The problem is that the ent only opened my nose looked at it and gave me steroid nasal spray, I need you to tell me what tests do I need to demand him to make me. I use the nasal spray for 2 days already and it doesn't help, I also heard steroids are dangerous PLEASE give me your advice

Re: Eye Allergy Pain And Allergy Shots

Hi Tordek,

Usually its hoped that prescription steroid use will not be long term. Systemic steroids (pills or shots) have overall more potentially serious side effects than local steroids (like sinus sprays). Though, even local steroids depress the immune system some & can make sinuses more prone to infection.

I'm not a sinus expert, but have been there with the chronic allergic conjunctivitis. If you haven't been seen by an ophthamologist (medical doctor: eye specialist), that's the person who can help you. If antihistamine eye drops don't work, you may benefit from cortisone (steroid) eye drops. But only ophthamologists dispense them, after making sure you don't have any glaucoma or eye pressure problems. Cortisone drops are effective very quickly.

Best wishes.
