Question Is this just palps

Exactly what is this ?

I'll just be sitting or laying down and then my heart will do 3 or 4 strong beats, sometimes this will happen several times in a row, other times off and on through the day. I can usually feel these coming on, kind of a funny feeling in my throat, and they give me an anxious feeling afterwards

Tests about two years ago checked out and I was put on Toprol XL for BP and heart rate. Everything was pretty good for awhile and now my heart rate has creeped back into the 80's while at rest.

As I'm writng this I just had a strong " Bam" Any replies please

Thanks !!

Cool Re: Is this just palps

Have you contacted your cardioligist ? You may need to either change or increase your dose slightly of the Toprol. How much are you currently taking ?

Thanks for the reply. I curently take 50 mg once daily.

I have an appointment with my regular doctor in a couple of weeks. The cardiologist released me when eveything checked out okay.

I really hope I don't have to increase the Toprol.

You may need to switch to a different beta blocker . it is unfortunate but many doctors including cardiologists just do not seem to do enough for the patient with an uneasy mind . There are several beta blockers and ace inhibotors all of which are intended to do the same thing but unfortunately everybody responds differently to medications, so it becomes a trial and error process . I am currently taking a low dose of Zebeta which for me gave the fewest side effects . I tried Toprol , along with 3 or 4 others ( all made me feel terrible) before finally settling on the Xebeta which has a reputation for having the best results as far as side effects go. If one has high blood pressure , then take the Ziac which is the same as Zebeta with a diuretic to control the BP.
Keep away from thre sweets and cut caffeine as much as possible as sugar can be a reason for strange episodes from the heart muscle.
Ask your cardiologist about the Ziac and good luck.
