YES 9 out of 10 women have had Ortho Tri Cyclen improve there acne.

Its the only pill thats been tested to help this problem. and it really does. no lie.

Re: Does Birth Control Help Fight Acne?

Except when it doesn't work lol. It didn't work for my daughter but as I look back I wonder if it might have. It broke her out badly for like 5 months and then she quit and went on accutane. But accutane did the same thing and she cleared in the 6th month (for a little while anyway). So now she's trying Yasmin. Yasmin seems to be the bc pill derms recommend most. Ortho-tri-cyclen was used in the original study and that's why it is so often associated with clearing acne. According to Dr. Geoffrey Redmond, The Hormone Doctor, Yasmin works quite well also. It will clear some, it will cause others to break out. You just have to try it for yourself.

Re: Does Birth Control Help Fight Acne?

If your going on Ortho-Tri for acne make sure it isnt Ortho-LO. I was put on that at the beginning of the year and i've had the worst time clearing up my acne since then. I went to my derm a couple weeks ago and he said that he has had a lot of patients on Ortho-LO and b/c of the horomones being so low, it auctually causes you to have more acne. Im starting Ortho-Novum this week and ready for clear skin again!

Re: Does Birth Control Help Fight Acne?

Ok I have been on Ortho Lo for 7 months, and I still have to take antibiotics, but when I first began taking it I had cystic acne on my cheeks for the first couple of months, which i've never had. It has gone away now but I do not know if the Lo has worked for me or not but I think it has improved my skin some. I am switching to Ortho Tri Cyclen tommorow hopefully since it is recommended for acne. I won't start it for a few weeks, but I will post about how it works for me.
