Cat Allergies - can a shot help?

I have severe sinus/allergy problems - that I never really had until I had indoor cats (3). My doc has had me on every pill under the sun, Allegra, Claratin, nose sprays -- nothing seems to help.

Has anyone ever taken a shot for cat allergies?? If so, did it help?

Thank you ALL!!!

Well, the best med for cat allergies is Zyrtec. HAve you tried it? And yes, the shots do work for cat allergies. I have had bad allergies all my life. The last time I was tested, cats were #2 on my worst list. I sleep with a 14 pound long haired cat...so the shots do work. Good luck!

Yeap - have tried Zyrtec too... Let me think, Allegra, Allegra D, Claritin, Claritin D, Sudafed, Flonase, Nasonex, Rhinocort, OTC meds...you name it. I think there has been a few more, but I can't remember their names.

You just gave me a glimpse of hope though

As soon as we get some insurance and I can get to a doctor, I think I am going to ask about a shot for allergies. How long does one last?

Well, there isn't one shot. You get tested for all allergies and then they mix the serum based on the results. Most doctors use a 5 year timeline to complete the injection series.
