Question Diabetes, insulin shots with hypothyroidism

I am asking this for my sister as she is not feeling well. She has diabetes and takes the insulin shots. Do you know if too much insulin can cause suppression of the circulating thyroid hormones Ft4 and Ft3?

She seemed to be feeling really good until upping the dose of her insulin, and now she is having hypo symptoms.

Just wondered if any of you know anything about this. I have searched and searched.

Thanks

Not that I know of, but if her blood sugar levels are running too low, that could definitely contribute to her not feeling well.

Can you get more information regarding her insulin doses? What type(s) of insulin is she on? How much, how often? It's possible that she's not on the best regimen to keep her levels down without also causing hypoglycemia, and there may be another approach that would work better for her, but we can't suggest anything without knowing what she's currently on.

My mom takes levothroid for her thyroid problems. She said she can tell when she is hypo bcuz she becomes sluggish and tired. My mom is also diabetic. I can't said for sure bcuz he doctors never check her t3 or t4, just the tsh. She is getting a new dr. this month and I am going to ask them to check the t
and t4. Since the thyroid regulates a lot of the body hormones, I don't see why it would not also regulate the glucose. I know for sure the thyroid can affect blood pressure.

I try to do a search and get back to you if I find something.

Lane413, Yes she needs her Ft4 and Ft3 checked not the total t4 t3. The ft4 and ft3 need to be in the upper 1/3 of their ranges.
