My acne and cramps always seem to come at the same time of the month which is what I belive to be the time I am ovulating about 2-3 weeks before my period. Im assuming that if my cramps and acne are assosiated with ovulation then the pill will fix them because I will not ovulate. I have seen so many post about pills making these symptoms worse. I began to wonder if there are certain pills that help my symptoms more. I was perscribed Apri but given Solia at the pharmacy (I've been told they are the same pill) So anyway, I was wondering if this pill is good for helping acne and cramps. Im still waiting to start the pill, Im a bit late, but no worries three HPT and they were all negative. Thanks so much in advance!

I'm new to the board and was wondering if you figured out a solution to your problem and if that bc pill has worked to clear up your acne or for your cramps. I've been on the pill Yasmin for more then a year and have had no severe problems with it. I was first prescribed yasmin for my acne which was soo badd due to stress from college and whatnot. It's worked really really good for my acne as well as with my periods. My periods last about a day and a half sometimes two with hardly any cramps at all which is a huge difference before I took the pill. Alot of people talk badly of Yasmin but its different for everyone. If Solia or whatever you got doesnt work out, suggest Yasmin to your doctor. Hopefully that works!

Re: good pill for acne??

I just started my Solia generic for Desogen. I really cant tell yet I've only taken 3 pills. So far my acne seems to be clearing but I don't usually have acne or cramps untill the middle of my cycle when Im ovulating. The real test will be in about two weeks or so, thats when I break out and get bad cramps. The doctor seems to think that my acne and cramps have to do with ovulation, so in theory any birth control that prevents ovulation will prevent these symptoms (and every birth contol pill stops ovulation) Im hoping this works, I just have to find the pill with the least side effects for me, but my doctor seems to think that most pills will work for me if the cramps and acne are indeed caused by ovulation. If this pill doesnt work then my next one will probably be yasmin, I think Im gunna try to stick with monophasic pills first, because my acne seems to be triggered by changing hormones so having my hormones change three times a month would make it worse, but Im no doctor Im basiclly working on common sence. thanks for the replies, I'll post back with the results

Re: good pill for acne??

I have had acne for around 10 years, bad acne. I have tried EVERYTHING (just to name a few: dermatologists, egg yolks, every over the counter face wash, proactive, Mary Kay, etc etc, the list goes on and on. And my face has never cleared up or even began to clear up...until I went on Birth Control Pills. I asked my gynocologist for BC that would help acne and he gave me Estro-Step, it did work, and I have never been happier.
If I were you I would ask my doctor and see what he suggests. But Estro-Step is a great birth control that I had NO side efffects from.

Re: good pill for acne??

i can tell you that Diane-35 is meant for "acne therapy" it says right on the package. it is supposed to slow oil production, and it did somewhat for me, i only got huge zits for the week i was off it. it's not perfect, but it helps a bit
