Re: Acid Reflux

Mountain Reader, you were on the exact same regimen I was on. Advair diskus 500/50...singulair and prevacid twice a day.

My new pulmonologist took me off Advair Diskus, put me on ASMANEX...twice a day. And...uh..not singulair...come on brain...I can't remember it. My prevacid quit working and I went to something, then something else, then I went to Nexium, but my formulary changed, so they wouldn't pay for it. I have tried 3 others since then. But I drink a LOT of Mylanta.

I wish you luck....3 pulmonary doctors told me to find another doctor. I pass every test at the lowest end of normal. I don't know. I am on sleep apnea treatment or I couldn't breathe at night.

In fairness to my asthma meds, I am also on heavy doses of morphine for my back pain. Morphine depresses our respiratory systems. Depresses me too.

Good luck with it.........

Re: Acid Reflux

i have the methacoline test coming up in a few days..i dont think its my lungs though. every time i go to the ER, my oxygen levels are 100% and lungs sound perfect..and when i take the albuterol, theres no effect that i can notice at all..it also doesnt feel like my lungs, it feels like somethings going on in my throat.. even when its not burning from the acid. its a heavy/restricted feeling and shortness of breath. its not hard to breathe, but it 'feels' heavy and restricted. whenever i run or bike and work up a sweat, it isnt any harder to breathe, but the heavy feeling is still there. what could be the prob? could the acid be doing something with my larynx? been dealing with this for 8 months. any ideas?

Re: Acid Reflux

my breathing was also a lot better one night a few wks ago, and the only thing i was doing different prior was that i was laying down with my neck stretched way out for a while. i've been doing this often and it helps my breathing, but not fully..anyone any ideas what could be going on with my throat?

Re: Acid Reflux

figured more out..2 things going on..something in my stomach/diaphragm area, where if i eat too much one day, the next day or 2, im short of breath(breathe out rapidly and almost uncontrollably)..throat contriction way up, where it feels heavy and restricted. i tryed taking sudafed pe for that just to see what would happen, and it clears it up a bit, and i have no post nasal drip or nose issues..pulmonologist said he cant do anything more and to see my gatro. my gastro doesnt know what to do about it anymore. nice. anyone with any ideas?
