Generic vs. Brand

Despite the lack of repsonses on my thread "Help Please!!" I know there has to be women who read these posts who use a generic BC. If you are one of those women then please, please share which generic and what your experience has been on it.

I'm having a hard time trying to make a decision to switch from Yasmin to a generic and I need all the help and insight I can get. I try and help others on this board as well as others, by sharing my input. This is the first time I've posted really needing some help and I'm being let down!!

I do research.. but I want to hear some real experiences. So please, if you use a generic brand of BC, share which one and how it has or hasn't worked for you.

Thank you.

Re: Generic vs. Brand

I'm currently on Solia and was on Apri prior to that for like 3 years. I've never had any problems with it. I take it as directed, never got pregnant, and I have light, short periods and it's only $15 a month with my health insurance.

Not sure why your considering switching but my opinion is to go for it. I've never been on a name brand birth control and I perfer generics because they are cheaper and work too.

Re: Generic vs. Brand

I switched from Yasmin to Cryselle (a generic for Lo-Ovral), and I have had no problems with it! It is absolutely my favorite pill I have been on. No BTB, no weight gain, and my period comes at exactly the same time each week. This was not so with Yasmin. I have had more side effects from the brand names I have been on, than from this generic (and I have been on 7 different pills, this is the first generic.) Good luck!

Re: Generic vs. Brand

There is no difference between the generic and the name brand in terms of effectiveness. The effect is exactly the same.

The only way the generic differs is with the inactive ingredients. That might make the genric pill a different color or something.

Other than that, there is no difference in the active ingredients between the generic and the brand, but for some reason people still worry about it.

It's cheaper to go generic, and there is absolutely no reason not to take advantage of that.

Re: Generic vs. Brand

I was on Necon 1/35 for almost a year, and I had no problems with it whatsoever. It was $5 a month. There is nothing wrong with generic health products, it's not like generic cereal where there is obviously a difference. The health products have to work the same, or people would get sued.
