Re: O.D.D. W/ ADHD on zolfot

hiya worriemom............

i have a 12 yr. old son that was just d/x'd with ADHD/ODD, but we have not started him on meds yet. this "process" they have here, it seems as though they're in no big hurry to help. i understand they have alot of patients,,,,infact over 3000 where my son goes, but it all started when he made the comment about hurting himself, then acting like he was choking himself right in front of me, that i called the police, and they took him to the crisis center. this was not the 1st time he "said" this, but this was the last time. it took 2 weeks after that to get an appt. to evaluate him, so now it's a week 1/2 to see the psychiatrist to start his meds. which is a week from tomrrow.
I will keep in touch and let you know what they put my son on, and how it goes. GOOD LUCK!
I know where you're coming from & i'm right there with ya

Re: O.D.D. W/ ADHD on zolfot

Hi
I feel your pain. My son hasn't said anything like that yet. But he is always yelling and callin names hittin and kickin. His new think is pinchin when upset.
He goes back to the Dr in the morning. Zolfot is helpin but he is still being so mean to everyone. This kid goes from hot to cold in 2.3 seconds.
Everyone I talk to even his school don't know what I'm talkin about when it comes to ODD they know ADHD but not the ODD. They tell me he is spoiled.
Well he is but not to that point of hittin everyone he wants to.
Good luck with your son hope it all works out for him and you.

Re: O.D.D. W/ ADHD on zolfot

hey

good luck with the dr.'s appt. today.

my son isn't hitting and yelling at anyone, just the yelling and arguing with family and starting to disrespect some of his teachers. he has alot of friends and keeps them, so there i'm lucky. him too,,,,,,,if he is asked or told to do anything he doesn't want to do, he is awlful with me. the school doesn't see it, nor do his friends, except for the normal arguing kids do, nor do his friends's families,,,,infact his friends's families tell me how well mannered and well behaved he is!!
I am keeping VERY close contact with his teachers, asst. principal, and his counselor at school, they know all that is going on, and the process we have to go through and that he won't start medication til the 22nd when he goes back.
You said the Zoloft helps.......what exactly is that helping??? my main concern with my son, is school and homework. as he is doing horribly! and all cause he won't do and turn in homework.

Again.........good luck today

I don't know how well it went today the Dr gave him Risperdal 0.5 mg @ bedtime. He said it was to help him get some sleep for he don't sleep well he goes to bed @ 9 pm and is still up and awake @ 12 - 1 am but we will try it I'm a little worried on this med.
Good luck with your sons appt.
