Ranitidine!!!

I have had a Endoscopy that showed inflammation of the duodenum.

I was on Lansoprazle for 3 months before I had the Endoscopy and I didnt get on with it so I stopped it when I had the Endoscopy which I had on the 17th Aug, I saw the stomach doctor yesterday and he ask me how I was getting on on the tablet I said I am not, I dont get on with it , he said if I dont take something for my stomach I will end up getting a ulcer or cancer.

He has told me to try Ranitdine 150mg twice a day, the thing is I am scared to take them I read all the leaflets I am scared that I will not breath good I have real bad health Anxitey and I dont like taking pills.

I am already on thyroid tabs that I have to take to live.... anybody on this tab (ranitdine) has it help??
anybody like me scared to take tabs...Mandy

Re: Ranitidine!!!

I have taken ranitidine-same dose as you-for more than ten years. They help with the heartburn but I also have throat issues so I tried several PPIs but I stopped them because of bad side effects and went back to ranitidine. It is not as strong but I know it is helping me some. You could try it and see how you do.
Good luck with whatever you decide, It is hard to find the right answer to your problems but you should try to reduce the acid and the damage it can do. I am usually very anxious trying a new pill so I take just one half if they can be cut and if I feel ok in 20 minutes I take the other half.

Re: Ranitidine!!!

Mad Maz - I've got health anxiety, too, along with reflux. I took ranitidine a while back before I started Prilosec and they did help with my reflux and I never had any adverse reactions to it. I always read the side effects of medications, too and get myself all worked up. I hate taking pills, too. Chances are, you won't have any of the side effects. Best of luck with whatever you decide. Take care!
