Question Lo Ovral and Hair Loss

I was on Estrostep for the past year and had absolutely no libido, so my doctor suggested that I switch to Lo Ovral. I've been on Lo Ovral for about 3-4 months. I still have little to no sex drive and just discovered a quarter sized bald spot on my head. I've always had slightly thin hair and shedded every now and then but have never experienced anything this extreme. I've read that the estrogen in BC can cause this after being on it for about 3-4 months. I'm scared to continue using the pill and want to stop completely, but I've also heard that stopping completely can cause hair to shed more within the next few months. Is this true? Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this or to make my hair grow back? Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Lo Ovral and Hair Loss

Lo Ovral is very high in androgens (male hormones). These hormones can cause hair loss in people sensitive to them, myself included. I actually lost quite a bit of hair on Estrostep (medium androgenicity). I was on it for two years and it never stopped until after I went off of it. I once had very thick hair so I didn't notice the thinning right away. My advice to you would be to finish the pack that your on and switch to something more hair friendly like Ovcon-35 or Brevicon.
