Re: Worth going to a doctor?

Hi Katie,
Hope you are ok today & not too chilly Its cold & wet & windy here too so I know how you feel. Had a pretty rough night again last night with not much sleep so I've had a red bull (dont know if you have that its kinda like Gatorade - energy drink) so I'm a bit hyper now. He hee!

Went to the drs this morning. Did not do the Spirometry test as peak flow was bad.... only got 240. So I've been given an injection (in my bum - ow) of prednisolone something or other & have been given a prescription of prednisolone tablets for 3 days which I have to start tomorrow. Plus they have increased my dose of Serevent which is the long acting reliever. So hopefully I should start to feel a whole lot better though I hate hate hate pred as it gives me terrible nightmares & also makes me muddle things up still I'd rather have that & be able to breathe right now. Anyway, gotta go back next week again to have the spirometry test. Also been given my own peak flow meter & have to keep a diary over the next week so they can track the improvement with it to see if the pred does what it should. The pharmacy wouldn't let me buy cough medicine because I am asthmatic & they were worried that some of the ingredients in the suitable medicine for the type of cough I have might stop the inhalers working or mask an attack. Usually you can buy stuff like that no problem if you are not on anything else anyway its not that strict.

Re: Worth going to a doctor?

Hi Katie,

How's your head this morning? Hope its feeling better & you had a nice sleep. I had a lovely sleep - hoorah! Only woke up once & that was to go to the bathroom so that was good. Have a good day what ever you get up to & I'll talk to you later. Hope your head is ok.
x

Re: Worth going to a doctor?

Hi Katie

Glad to hear your head is a bit better but sorry its still a bit fuzzy. Maybe you just need some fresh air & lots of water & it might go off. Too much sleep headaches are really annoying but if you had one before you went to bed its possible its kinda like a migrane you have & they can take some time to clear propperly. Poor you having better sleep in the day..... its whatsits law that you cant sleep when you want to! I am a night owl too - have to force myself to go to bed as I am never tired but in a morning I cant get up.

My peakflow has improved a bit - its now at 340 so getting better definately & quite quickly! I'm on fairly strong Pred - 50mg strongest dose I've had before... anyway, its a bit of a change for me I've been hyperactive all day & that coupled with a good nights sleep I think I have been driving everyone at work crazy. I could not sit still, concentrate or anything.... I think I was like a 3 year old! Dancing around & being fairly loopy & loud. Bit of a change from yesterday when all I was doing was coughing, feeling sorry for myself & keeping quiet.

Re: Worth going to a doctor?

Hi there How are you today? Well, I hope. Still feeling better? Sounds like pred really really does know it's business. lol, your poor, confused co-workers...though I'm sure they understand what's up with you. Hopefully you you were able to calm down a bit today, don't wear yourself out! Glad your peak flow is up a bit, hope it continues to go up.

Katie

Re: Worth going to a doctor?

Hey Katie!

Feeling good thanks.... doing much better though I am still quite wheezy - my co-worker can hear me from her desk about 10ft away! But hey-ho feel much more human (peak flow is now 360)! Thanks for asking! Just cant stop eating though! I've had 2 breakfasts already - toast & cereal. Looking forward to lunch! Yesterday I ate so much I basically did not stop eating! Another real annoying side effect of the pred is the munchies! I went to the grocery store yesterday after work & spent $40 on snacks of which I ate most last night - whoops! Cant help it though - when I finish the tablets tonight I'm hoping my appetite will be back to normal over the weekend. Less hyper now... that only really lasted for the first couple of days. I'm lucky they are cool people & know whats happening. They have even given me food from their drawers when I've been on a munchie hunt.
This is me on steroids! x
