Krista,
I tried Yasmin for about a year and I will say it worked very well for my acne. It also caused me to lose alot of hair. I had read about the hairloss before I went on it and just figured I'd dodge the bullet, but I didn't. About the time I went on Yasmin (37, cystic acne and just at me wits end tried everything since the age of 14 can't take anymore, enough already) I was also researching the effects of diet on acne. But I just didn't want to commit and risk it not working. So I tried the yasmin and as I said it worked, but now I've lost about 50% of my hair, no lie. What I'm trying to say if you are at all interested in a natural approach, I can lead you to some information that may help. I am successfully controlling my acne with diet for about 6 months now. Foods like high glycemic carbs, sugar, bread, dairy (low glycemic but conversely highly insuligenic?sp, anyway there's tons of info out there on the subject and I thought it was a pipe dream too. Loren Cordain has an ebook called the Dietary Cure for Acne, it's a must read for anyone with this dreaded affliction.
