Yasmin?

Hey I've written a few post on here...because I've have mild-moderate acne...and I've tried EVERYTHING and nothing has helped. I dont want to try accutane because my acne isnt that severe. I'm pretty for sure my breakouts are hormonal and thats what most doctors think...so I went on Ortho Tri Cyclen and was on them for about 2 months and I know ppl say to give it time...but my face was broke out every single day for those 2 months and I've been reading on here about Yasmin. So I was wondering if Yasmin really does help and if there is an initial breakout and how long does it take? And if you have seen improvements do u ever get pimples anymore? Thanks!

Re: Yasmin?

I've been on Yasmin for going on 5 months, and this is just my experience. The first 2-3 months my monthly outbreaks decreased. i had maybe 2 blemishes pop up. In the past month and a half or so, I haven't noticed any pimples poppin up at all. I've been trying to drink more water, and I also use a product called Acne and Scar Treatment. I believe these three things combined have helped to improve my monthly outbreaks. The treatment has helped to reduce some of my old red marks.

I suggest trying Yasmin. Just pay attention to other symptoms though. Because Yasmin is a BC, it can effect other things, good or bad. In my experience though, Yasmin has worked wonders in all aspects!

Good luck!!

Re: Yasmin?

How long did it take before you started seeing any results? I know that everyone says to at least give each pill 3 months...but when I was on Ortho it was breaking out every single day and after two months, it wasn't getting better at all. Did you have an initial breakout?

Re: Yasmin?

Krista,
I tried Yasmin for about a year and I will say it worked very well for my acne. It also caused me to lose alot of hair. I had read about the hairloss before I went on it and just figured I'd dodge the bullet, but I didn't. About the time I went on Yasmin (37, cystic acne and just at me wits end tried everything since the age of 14 can't take anymore, enough already) I was also researching the effects of diet on acne. But I just didn't want to commit and risk it not working. So I tried the yasmin and as I said it worked, but now I've lost about 50% of my hair, no lie. What I'm trying to say if you are at all interested in a natural approach, I can lead you to some information that may help. I am successfully controlling my acne with diet for about 6 months now. Foods like high glycemic carbs, sugar, bread, dairy (low glycemic but conversely highly insuligenic?sp, anyway there's tons of info out there on the subject and I thought it was a pipe dream too. Loren Cordain has an ebook called the Dietary Cure for Acne, it's a must read for anyone with this dreaded affliction.

Re: Yasmin?

Krista,
I have heard of some people losing their hair but not very many. Not to say you are wrong stojack that could have been the case for you. I asked my doctor about this before I started Yasmin and she said that it does not cause hair loss and she had never heard of that. I don't know about all that but I have been on Yasmin for 2 years and it has helped my skin alot. You just have to stick with it for about 3-6 months to get past the initial breakout. I do still get one or two pimples from time to time around my period but nothing like before! And another great thing no weight gain! I have been on Alesse and Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and I gained weight on both of them. Hope I helped!
