Question Antibiotics Done, Still Sick *Grrr* Advice, Help?

Ok, so I was Dx with Strep a couple of weeks ago.. Prescribed Amoxicillin, 500mg 3X/Day ... Finished my antibiotics several days ago.. I spoke to the Dr. on the phone shortly before I finished my antibiotics and told her I had begun coughing, my ears were killing me, I was having headaches, and while the puss pockets had gone away, I was feeling bad still. She said that it takes everyone a different amount of time to recover from strep (depending on their immune systems, and whatnot) and she told me that I could take a decongestant which should help with the fluid in my ears and the general gook in my throat/nose.

Well, I am still coughing, my throat is irriated, and my ears are still killing me.

So what should I do ???

BTW, I still have my tonsils, which I do not know if that could be the culprit or what ?

Any advice thoughts?

You may need another round of anitbiotics. Head back to the doctor. Head infections are often very difficult to get rid of.

MissJessica,

Some times strep leads into secondary bacterial infections like sinus and ear infections. If you are still running a low grade fever, or dragging out discolored (yellow to green) Gunk out of the back of the throat you need more anti-biotics to fix this. Was your head getting better on the anti-biotics? If so tell the doctor you need to extend your anti-biotics or get a minimum of 14 days of Cefzil or another type of cephalosporin which are the best at fighting low blood flow dark cavity infections. I personally would request more anti-biotics give your symptoms, because in me it is a guaranteed sinus infection.

Respectfully,
MG
