Re: poorly controlled asthma

Hi Everyone

I am having breathing problems again today. I have had alot of problems with my stomach due to prednisone in the last two weeks. I am frustrated because I know I usually have to go on prednisone when I have a problem. I am on maximum inhalers right now. I take advair 500-50, extra flovent to try to stay off prednisone, ventalin and atrovent. Anyone else experience ongoing breathing problems?
Let me know.

Karen

Are you anywhere near Toronto? Try to get a referral to Dr Meyer Balter. He's very good & should be able to help.

Re: poorly controlled asthma

Every year at this time, I have alot of breathing problems. The air is cold, dry and extremely polluted right now because of an inversion that has settled over the valley. What works to keep my breathing problems in check the rest of the year just doesn't work as effectively right now. It gets frustrating at times. Not only does my asthma flare up, but the bad air also affects my allergies. My current regular routine includes: Advair 500/50, Singulair, Allegra, Astelin, Flonase, Prevacid, and frequent use of Albuterol.

Re: poorly controlled asthma

Hey! Read your posting and thought I would share my experience with you. I have had really bad acid reflux for three years now..my right side would always hurt, sting and I was always having acid flowing up my throat even when I was sitting up. My doctor put me on Protonix, which was recently changed to Omaprazole (Prilosec OTC). I take that daily and it helps with the symptoms, but its never really completly gone. Strange thing is is that one night I woke up abrutly cause I thought I was choking and since then have had trouble breathing. My doctor now has me on singulair, zyrtec and albuterol for when I have trouble breathing. I am sorry to hear about how severe your asthma is, I don't have it as bad as you do, but it still is scary when that bought of breathlessness comes along. Best of luck to you..I hope you find something that works for you! Are you on a Nebulizer treatment? If not maybe you would benifit from one. Take Care!
