Ultram Help

Ok, I've got some pretty substantial back pain, but have never been given Ultram before. Most of the time I've received Vicodin or Percocet....

Can anyone tell me a bit about Ultram?

- Loopy?
- How does it compare to those other drugs?
- How long does it last?

Things like that. Any help would be appreciated....

I've read a lot of people saying they've struggled with Ultram? Is this because you actually receive a "nice" feeling from it?

My back hurts...bottom line...I'm just wondering what I'm getting into with the Ultram.

Thank you one and all for your help.

Re: Ultram Help

I could really use some help here. I know I'm prone to addiction, so I wanted to be sure that I didn't put myself in a bad situation. I've take other painkillers before, so I know how those are and how to handle them. I really just want to know how Ultram compares to more typical painkillers.

anyone?

please?

Edit: been reading more about people's reactions and it definitely seems like a dangerous drug. So I've definitely taken note of these dangers. I am in a great deal of pain and this is what my doctor has chosen for me. I honestly just need to know how it is compared to other drugs, esp as a non-narcotic.

Re: Ultram Help

Hey Bob, There are people here on the board who became addicted to it. If you are worried about getting out of control with it, can you give your meds to someone else? They could be in charge of how much and when you get it. Did you talk to your dr about the prior problem with pain meds? Also, I took ultram before and it didnt have the same effect as a vic or percocet. Hang in there.

Re: Ultram Help

You won't get any type of high from ultram, its a lot weaker than vicadin and way weaker than percocet. Its not much stronger than Motrin...Your Dr probably put you on this so you wouldn't get addicted and he may have wanted you on a non narcotic. but they are now finding out it is addictive and people do abuse it. do a search on this board on ultram and you will find a ton of info on its addiction issues. its also known as Tramadol or ultracet. It didn't help very much with my back pain but its probalby better than nothing.. Just be REALLY careful with it as people get into a lot of trouble with it and some people do report a buzz from it but it only makes me sleepy and plugged up 10 times worse than any other narcotic including oxycontin. if I take Ultram I will not go the bathroom for days so I avoid it big time.. I hope it helps you though.

Re: Ultram Help

Yikes! It seems like from everything I've been reading on here, I might asa well take these and throw them away. I really don't want to get caught in a bad position here at all.

Now i'm just scared...
