Sternum Removal Post Op Questions

THIS IS ONE OF THOSE GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS STORIES: 19 MONTHS AFTER HAVING MY STERNUM REMOVED (GN)I AM STILL ALIVE...(BN)BUT IN ALMOST CONSTANT PAIN AND OR DISCOMFORT.ONLY HAVE PROBLEMS SLEEPING, STANDING, WALKING, SITTING DOWN, WHICH JUST ABOUT COVERS MOST OF LIFES ACTIVITIES.
IF ANYONE OUT THERE COULD GIVE ME ADVISE CONCERNING RIB MOVEMENT AND COLLAR BONE MOVEMENT I COULD SURE USE SOME. DON'T KNOW HOW LONG iI CAN PUT UP WITH THIS, THINK THAT BEING A RETIRED MARINE IS MY ONLY STRONG SUITE SOMETIMES.

What are you taking for pain? I have found that adding Advil, Aleve, or Motrin to another pain med (such as Lortab) works much more effectively than either med alone. These are safe for most people to take together, but ask your doctor. It sounds like you need to talk to your doctor anyway, if you are suffering this much. Pain and suffering do not make you "strong, or tough", they just make you miserable. Good Luck!
