Bump in armpit, what could it be?

I noticed a similar type bump back in September... I was so scared, thinking it was a lymph node. I went to my primary MD and was treated for folliculitis and sent home with antibiotics. After a repeat situation (these underarm lumps turned to the size of a golfball) I went to my derm and was diagnosed with hidradenitis suppurativa. It is in remission now, thankfully with high doses of tetracycline.

Please, contact your dermatologist and have it diagnosed, you'll be glad you did.

It does sound like a lymph node, I had one swollen in each of my armpits recently. I checked with doctor and she said even a sore throat/ runny nose may cause them to swell. She told me to monitor them for a few weeks, if they didn't go down we would then do further testing - but sure enough, they went down!

well my doctor told me that it was just a swollen gland from an infection. She said you can get those if you use dirty razors, they can give you bacteria...I never really though about that and have been using really old razors. From now on though I'm using clean new razors all the time. She said that it wasen't a lymph node because those would be farther down under the skin and not so close to the surface like mine. So she prescribed me antibiotics for the infection and said the bump should start to go down.
