3 different meds., Is that OK?

I have been taking Nortriptyline for a year now for tx. of migraine headaches. 50mg in the p.m. and it works!

I also take Prozac, 30mg in the a.m. for anxiety. Love it!

Now, I am taking Wellbutrin SR (not XL, insurance issues) 150mg a.m. and p.m. This was started a week ago to help off set the sexual side effects caused by Prozac. I like the Wellbutrin so far.

Is it ok to be taking all 3? This is coming from a girl that was scared to start taking 1 a year ago.

Does anyone know more about the categories of meds. that these may fall in and what it does to the brain?

Thanks!

Make sure your doctor and psychiatrist know of all the meds you are taking. I take prozac, anafranil, synthroid, and sometimes ativan. When each was prescribed I made sure my doctors knew about the other meds and asked about any possible interactions. If you need a quicker answer you could try calling a pharmacist.

Re: 3 different meds., Is that OK?

If you are under the care of the same doc, then yes, most likely they are looking for the best "cocktail" of drugs for your needs. It does seems scary, though, doesn't it?? I mean, you just keep getting them tossed at you and you think, "Why doesn't just one of these handle everything?"
I take Zoloft and Klonipin and then Seroquel for sleep, Topomax for migraine prevention and am thinking about adding a little welbutrin because I have no desire to do anything anymore.....hoping I'm just decompressing from a truly awful year last year. As long as you are aware of all the side effects and all your docs are aware of the meds you're on, you're ok. Hey! Be happy everything is working! A lot of people on these boards are struggling because they can't seem to get their meds right!! Good Luck!

Re: 3 different meds., Is that OK?

You are right...I am very lucky that my meds. are working for me right now. Seems like it has taken alot of trial and error, but I guess that is how we figure it all out.

I put a call into my neurologist office re: the meds. They put me on one and my PC doc. put me on the other 2. I use the same pharmacy to fill all scripts, so no red flags there.

I just want to make sure that I will be ok and maybe others have done a similar combination.

Thanks!
