Re: Awful day for son! :(

He came home today! on his b-day....he's 13 today.
He says he feels better on the Abilify and she said he can still take the Concerta also, he told me too that the Concerta was helping him to remember and focus better too. so we'll do both, and see how he does, if it does nothing for him, or makes anything worse......we'll stop the Concerta.
::::::::crossing fingers::::::::::::hoping this works for him.
he was diagnosed with ODD/ADHD......nothing about BP, which they thought he may be.

(((((((((hugs))))))))

Re: Awful day for son! :(

Yes.....it is for that. it's also to help with concentration and to feel better about himself.
and as for the #^%$ insurance company.....well, getting the run around AGAIN!! this happens everytime i go to get medication for him. One of the workers called me tonite, to make sure that i am going to follow up with his appointments....i told him, of course i am. he asked me if we got the medication ok and when i told him NOPE, he asked why. I told him, because you guys won't pay for it. he said he is personally going to get with their pharmacy and get an override. he couldn't promise it would be tonite, if anything it will be monday. so i've bought out of pocket, 2 last nite and i'll be buying 2 more tonite, to get through Monday. OMG!! the price of that stuff.....a months supply is $407.99!!! But.......he needs it.

take care

But.........he was fine, seemed happier, and was ok with the fact, that he can't come home til they figure out what is going on with him.
they(nurse) called me this afternoon to let me know that he saw the doctor and she wants to start him on Abilify....5mg in the evening. and she d/c'd all the other meds he was on....depakote, concerta & trazadone. so now he'll need to be there for atleast for a couple more days, to make sure this is right for him and he has no side affects.
i told them that i am willing to do anything for him, and try anything we need to try.......that we haven't already.........to help him and make things better.
I was reading on this Abilify, and it seems to supposedly work for ALL his problems, rather than taking the others that he was taking...3 pills a day.....the Abilify is only 1x a day....in the evening. I sooooo hope THIS works for him!! :::::::::::sigh::::::::::::
The NP that he's been seeing had talked about, that if what he WAS on didn't work for him, she was going to start him on the Abilify. But unfortunately.......we had to go this route.
take care eveyone ((((((hugs)))))

Re: Awful day for son! :(

How long does it take the Abilify to start working as it should?? All was fine since he's been home until early this evening when it was time to work on homework.....he got angry, told me that i am more strict since he has been on this new medication. I'm not any more strict than i was before, just maybe now that he is on the Abilify, he actually hears and understands what i am saying. He is also on Concerta 36mg.
He still seems as though he doesn't want to listen to authority or take on any responsibilities. This is why i was wondering how long it takes for the medication to start working.
