Re: Please Help ADD and Violence

things are going much better!
he's been going to my sisters after school to do his HW, as i work 12 hour shifts, and he's been getting it done.....the make-up work he had to do from being out last week. In the house by 8p, and in bed @ 9p and asleep by 9:15!! mornings are still a little rough, but that's just the typical not wanting to get up yet. he starts counseling tomorrow. and hopefully he will remember to turn in all his work.
he says that the medications help him. the concerta helps him to focus and remember more and the Abilify has calmed him down. so hopefull we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

take care & best wishes & lotz of luck to your sister

Re: Please Help ADD and Violence

Medications can only do so much. He may need some changing of the meds and the good thing is the ADHD meds are fast acting so you can get the effects of the change quickly.

But what he really needs is a therapist. I think this is more important than the meds. The meds wont work as well without the therapy and he will be active in his treatment and have some accountability for his actions.

He has to learn how to live with this and control his actions. And with the separation he may feel out of control.

This is of course, just my humble opinion.

Good luck with everything

Cheryl

Re: Please Help ADD and Violence

this is called impulsive behaviour which comes under adhd your nephew sounds more than likely to have adhd, does your nephew have mood swings, impulsive behaviour does things without thinking first of the consequences adhd can affect their learning in some cases as the behaviour takes over the learning, i do believe your nephew is going through a bad time at moment with his parents splitting up that will effect him emotionally and it will show in his behaviour as well does he seek attention all the time as well figets sqirms cant keep still, [removed]
