Off-label Prescription Drugs for ADD/ADHD

I'd like this thread to about off-label drugs being prescribed to treat ADD/ADHD. Typically non-stimulants.

Off-label use is the practice of prescribing drugs for a purpose outside the scope of the drug's approved label, most often concerning the drug's indication (****). Example: Currently many anti-depressants drugs are now being prescirbes to help treat ADD/ADHD alone or in combination with other ADD/ADHD drugs. Due to the FDA's strict standards many times drugs that may treat ADD/ADHD won't ever be approved as such drugs may only help a small % of people hence off-lable prescriptions.

Just because a drug was not created for the treatment of ADHD doesn't mean it can't. Viagra wa originally created to combat high blood pressure and Propecia (hair growth drug) is actually just a prostate drug renamed and re-marketed.

If you know of a an off-lable ADD/ADHD drug please list it and link articles about it's successes and well as any personal experiences. Finding the right med to treat ADD/ADHD is already so difficult, This thread can help broaden the choices of treatment and improve the chances of treating ADD/ADHD successfully.

Re: Off-label Prescription Drugs for ADD/ADHD

I posted another thread about Aricept. I thought I would also add it to this list. It looks very promising to me, however, the pdoc is not willing to prescribe it. It is out of his comfort zone.
