Re: tonsillectomy and pain meds

Thank you for your thoughts. I have had a terrible time with nausea and being able to take pain meds. Two things that are helping me right now---a tablespoon of honey (sounds gross but works; also healing for the wound site) and flat ginger ale is great I thought it would sting but it doesn't and it definately helped me to be able to get some fluids down. Today is day five worst pain yet but I am hopeful that I will get the pain meds down okay with honey and gingerale. Also for anyone wondering about swallowing pills It has not been a problem I did switch to liquid roxicet but my antibiotics are good sized pills that go down okay. Main problem-Sleep. I feel like I am choking when I start to fall asleep. I think I've only gotten 6 hours altogether. Best night sleep was after steroid dose which is wearing off now.

Re: tonsillectomy and pain meds

Hi- I am doing great great. I had a Dr. appt. on Tuesday and the doctor said my scabs were almost gone and I was healing very quickly. I have been drinking a shot of aloe juice now and then to speed healing and I was taking honey for nausea but I think it also helped heal the wound site. I began eating toast on sunday and the doctcr cleared me to eat whatever I wanted if I chewed it well. My worst day was Monday night into Tuesday morning. I was up all night with a severe headache and fever. I swear I thought I had meningitis-- the back of my neck hurt and my eyes hurt to move them. I told my fiancee to call my ex-husband(he used to be a nurse) and he told my fiance to go get some Nodoz and coke for caffeine withdrawal and believe it or not I was cured within half an hour. I only drink 1 cup of coffee a day maybe, but I guess it can affect you like that. I still have to sleep sitting up, though. I did make a big jug of iced tea to drink during my recovery but I started drinking it when i was having nausea and vomiting so that ruined iced tea for me, and I don't want to look at it for a long time. Guilt by association. Thanks for thinking of me brushershuldrof, how are you healing?
