Amaryl users

I was taking Metformin for about 3 years and finally because of the bowel trouble it created my Doctor put me on Amaryl 2mg in the morn and 1 mg at 4pm. I am not getting the same results I did with Metformin. I have been on it 6 months now. Do you find the same thing with Amaryl. I like the drug because of no side effects. but.................What has your experience been.??

My reading are always around 10 (180). Also I have dawn phenonomen too and my reading are even higher than that. until about 11 am in the morning and then I might have a reading of about 10 (180). Thanks for your input.

Re: Amaryl users

I have not had any bad results with Metformin. Your readings are pretty high, if these are the fasting results. Your doc can titrate the Amaryl up to 8 mg daily if he/she thinks that is wise within his/her clinical experience and your presentation and history.

Another two medications which are of a different drug class than Metformin are Avandia and Actos. These have a similar effect to metformin in that they don't increase the insulin level in your body, they increase insulin sensitivity of the tissues. Your doctor may want to try one of these in combination with Amaryl.
