Anyone ever take Serzone?

Is there anyone out there who took Serzone at one time. It has been
discontinued, my doc has been trying other antidepressants but nothing
seems to compare to Serzone for me.
Did anyone take Serzone and switch to something else that worked as
well for them or compared as well to Serzone.
I tried the generic, but there must be something else in the inactive
ingredients that irritates my stomach and so, I can't take it.

Re: Anyone ever take Serzone?

Hi.....yes I was on it for a short time about 7 years ago. I only took it for about 8 weeks though. At first it seemed to work really well for my depression, but then I started having side-affects including panic attacks, and it actually increased my anxiety so I went off of it. Took no meds for the past 7 years but just went back on yesterday. I am taking Lexapro now, but too early to know how it will affect me. I have had a little nausea, but not too bad. I also take Prilosec though for my acid reflux and I assume that is helping with the nausea. You may want to inquire about taking something for nausea if other SSRI's are not agreeing with your stomach. I don't know why Serzone was d/c, but I know it made me feel worse. Good luck to you.

Thanks so much for your reply. I did really well on the Serzone for about
10 years. Been trying others, Paxil, Lexapro, Zoloft etc, but they either
upset my stomach or give me anxiety! I also take Prevacid for acid reflux
but even w/ that, I couldn't tolerate some of them. Next we are going to
try Effexor. I am getting discouraged. I had no side effects w/ Serzone,
great right from the beginning.
Thanks again for your input.

Re: Anyone ever take Serzone?

Gee I'm sorry your having trouble finding something to work. I don't know why they discontinued it. Hope you can find something that works for you! I am hoping that this Lexapro works as well on my depression as the Serzone did, but without the anxiety! So far, I'm not feeling that great yet....good luck to you!

Re: Anyone ever take Serzone?

And I hope the Lexapro will work for you. My cousin is on it and some
other people I know and they are doing fine. Unfortunately it made me more
anxious which is what a lot of them do for me. Either that or they upset
my stomach. Guess I'll just keep plugging along and hope that I will stumble
on one that helps.
