Question anyone given their child strattera?

my son is due to start strattera for his adhd, after trying methalphenidate which did not agree with him. Can anyone tell me of their experiences of this drug, especially in children. I would like to gather a bit more info before i give it to him. He is on 10mg once a day, i would be grateful for any replies.
thanks

Re: anyone given their child strattera?

hiya exhausted mum.....LOL like that name...i know it so well.

my son was on Strattera for about a month and 1/2, it really didn't do anything for him. it seemed to at first, but as time went on, it quit working for him. he is now on Abilify. But....just because it doesn't work for others, doesn't mean it won't work for him. The good thing about Strattera is that it is not a stimulant, as the other ADHD meds are.
Also, i just starting him on the Omega 3 Fish Oil. i've read in other posts that it does work for quite a few that i have heard. so i'm giving that a shot. It's natural, so it can't hurt.

Good Luck & Take care

Hi sheila,
thanks for your advice, i have started strattera today so hopefully fingers crossed we will see some improvement. its nice to know that you are not the only one in this situation sometimes, as none of my friends have a child with adhd and are a little bit ignorant of my situation. i have only just joined this health forum site so hopefully you will get to read this.
many thanks
jo

Re: anyone given their child strattera?

not a problem. i only started coming here myself since around Nov. of last year. It's an awesome to come. Alot of people here relate to what everyone is going through. If ya need advice, or just to vent. trust me......i've been there before. I post on other forums also, as i have FM. anywhere here on the boards is awesome.
Good luck with your son and the Strattera. Hopefully it will work for him, and it won't been such a long road in finding the right medication for him.

Have a great day!

Hello..I'm new to the boards, but noticed your question..My daughter took Strattera for about 2 months but it did absolutely nothing for her. She's been on Adderall XR for about 6 months now and that seems to work best for her...
