what is Opiate

I just recently had a urine screen for the courts and i noticed on the paperwork that they are looking for Cocaine ,Weed, and OPIATE which i never heard of. What exactly is opiate? I read it can be found in some over the counter products .... is that true? Extra Strength tylenol is what i take for pain but was told its not in that , does anybody know what products contain opiate so i know to avoid them. I could be dead wrong on all this so can somebody shine some light on me and fill in the blanks for me . break it down

thanks

Re: what is Opiate

Opiates ~ heroine, morphine, codeine, hydromorphone, meperidine, oxycodone, Fentanyl, methadone, propoxyphene, pentazocine, et al.

There are no over the counter products that contain these narcotic substances. However, there have been instances of people who eat poppy seeds in small amounts on their bagels on a daily basis testing positive for opiates even though no other heavy-duty narcotic substances were used. Poppy seeds are the source of natural opiates.
