Congrats Ebby on your clearing!

So for having this prescription you must have a thyroid problem diagnosed. If blood test work come out you dont have any thyroid problem no doctor will prescribe that. This is how it is right? I guess so, im a bit confused with what you said that your test were in normal range.

Hi Blueeydbia---Thanks! Yes, my insurance did cover any blood workup the Dr. ordered.

Hi MarifromPR---my blood tests for thyroid came out as low normal but the doc says there are now some docs who are treating people with the symptoms of low thyroid even though the tests don't show a real deficiency. Being in the low-normal range may be too low for some people; also he said that even though you may have enough of the thyroid hormone in your body, your body may not be able to use it properly for some reason. There's a website you can do a search on about Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome---that's where I found the name of the Dr. that I go to now; alot of good info on there. We tried the just the T3 meds that they suggest on the website but the Armour Throid meds seemed to be more tolerable for me---he says they're more stable (and much less expensive!). Hope this info helps you!!!

Thanks Ebby on the info! Holy heavens how much I have learned on these boards. I compare what I knew last year to today and Im amazed. Trying to figure out what is the cause for the acne in ourselves is the great mistery. Once you know you can then keep things under control. For what I see now acne can be due to so many reasons thats why its so hard to figure it out.

I had my thyroid tested after complaining to my PCP of fatigue. My acne of 34 years is also pretty much gone. I say pretty much because I recently tried B5 after reading so much about it but found it caused me to breakout. I take a low dose of spironolactone in addition to Levoxyl.

I have not found any literature that associates thyroid disease with acne. I also went to many different derms and none ever recommended I get my thyroid tested.

I believe there is a relationship between acne and thyroid disease because many many years ago they use to use xray treatments of the thyroid to treat acne. I just don't understand why none of the articles on acne mention testing of the thyroid.
